Here in Philadelphia, we are fortunate to have a Gayborhood. This topic has been coming up often in my Tumblr feed for a few days now, but, few, if no one, are talking about the real issues as to why the changes happened. Let's Talk About Some Topics: Philadelphia's Pride Flag We just can never be in your likeness and it’s not our fault.Ĭopied and pasted from when I had to write this up years ago when this was first an issue in the community. So, while I don’t like the corporate pandering on any level I don’t appreciate how the community makes POC gay guys invisible sometimes. Hell, you wouldn’t dismiss someone if they needed help in a situation you’ve never been in I hope? Or would you be dismissive because “ive never experienced that you’re making it up” We can’t have allies because we’re so one issue about our identities why can’t we be for ALL issues that affect any minority?

Our community’s poster child is a European descent dude with perfect euro features and I’m not saying that’s bad pointing it out but since many of the group is white in the states, many don’t feel like they HAVE to adhere to struggles that we have unique in our transectionality. I despise most corporations in general lol but the real issue is that I feel like there isn’t a lot of visibility with POC in the gay community. Our culture has just trained its people to automatically be antagonists and obstructionists against black people and every attempt at progress they try to make.
#BLACK GAY FLAG PC#
Even if it means twisting and re-wording it to make it sound more demonized than it actually is (calling out racial prefs is being entitled to white people fucking them, saying black lives matters means you don't care about other lives, putting damm black and brown stripes on the pride flag clearly designed to make a statement in highly racially charged period for black people is being too PC and taking over the flag, accountability becomes "cancel culture", etc. Black people say black lives matter we have start a whole ass counter movement just to antagonize the fuck out of every move they fucking make to feel included. A black person being choked to death says get off my neck we have to debate whether the act was justified. If a black person breathes too loudly people will have to start a podcast about why it needs to stop. But in this racial climate people have selective intelligence and this knack for magically transforming every single tiny effort designed to uplift black people into a negative thing that they "cannot stand" or are "getting tired of." There is just a longstanding history of hatred and antagonism toward black people in America.
